Antonio Esfandiari Buys $5300000 Mansion in Los Angeles
High stakes poker legend Antonio Esfandiari has bought a lavish new mansion in Venice Los Angeles California.
High stakes poker legend Antonio Esfandiari has bought a lavish new mansion in Los Angeles, California. The former magician turned poker pro looks to be shifting his focus from Las Vegas where he has based himself for many years.
Esfandiari with One Eye on Retirement
Antonio Esfandiari has lived in Panorama Towers in Las Vegas for the last decade. Located only a single block from the famous Strip, the luxury property is a popular choice amongst high stakes players due to the convenience of the best card rooms.
Is Esfandiari now looking to shift his focus away from Sin City with this move to California with his family? His son is now five-years-old and he is in his forties, an age where traditionally many players choose to reduce their schedule.
Maybe retirement from a full-time commitment to the game is around the corner.
Another reason for the move is the recent robbery at Panorama Towers. More than $1 million worth of cash, casino chips, and jewelry was stolen from the apartment in July 2020. A long-time friend Svitlana Silva was eventually unmasked as the likely culprit.
Luxury Mansion
The new property is a sprawling 6,000 square feet in Venice, Los Angeles. With five bedrooms and six bathrooms the luxury brand new construction is fit for a king and the price tag reflects that.
An eye-watering $5.3 million show just how successful Esfandiari has been at the game. Variety Magazine wrote,
“…the home is a soothing palette of light wood floors, large black framed windows, darker accent pieces, white walls and contemporary furnishings,”
This mansion isn’t the only property the Esfandiari family has in the area. Only three years ago they bought a “starter” mansion for $3.43 million and will be keeping it.
Esfandiari Still Playing Part Time
This beach community property will be the perfect place for some casual high stakes gatherings. Esfandiari’s wife, Amal Bounahra, is also a keen player.
Antonio Esfandiari has won more than $27 million in live tournament play, with millions more from cash games.
Last month he lined up against Phil Hellmuth, only to get steamrolled in three straight heads-up matches. The loss totaled $350,000 leaving Esfandiari a little sore.
With more than $50 million in combined tournament earnings between them, this was a true heavyweight clash. Esfandiari maybe wasn’t taking it as serious as he used to though, because he said during play that he doesn’t enjoy the high roller circuit anymore.
Is this semi-retirement for an all-time great?
